was "pushed" by something unseen.
The Wausau Club
Martha is the name given to the ghost by staff at the club. She is fond of turning on lights,
swinging light fixtures and causing cold stops. During recent renovation workers complained of
tools and other equipment being moved after workers and set their equipment down.
The Fischer House
Not in Wausau, but in Rothschild, the Fischer House haunting was the inspiration for the movie
Poltergeist. The book Haunted Heartland has a chapter dedicated to this haunting.
Forest Park Village (Old Hospital North)
When Old Hospital North was abandoned in the eighties there were rumors that ghostly images and
sounds could be seen and heard in the old morgue. The building has since been renovated into
offices and housing for the elderly, but the haunting continues.

and barn.

The museum is located in the old Yawkey mansion at 410 McIndoe. Visitor reports include
smelling pipe smoke on the first floor staircase landing, a book of poetry that moves about in
one exhibit, and a pop bottle cap that moved across a break room table (seen by multiple
witnesses).
Marathon County Historical Society Library
The old Woodson mansion, now the home of the Historical society library, has a ghost.
Footsteps are heard in a second floor hallway and on the main staircase according to staff.
Wausau Municipal Airport
A hangar is reportedly haunted. The story goes that the airport manager in the 1940s, one
Archie Towle, died in a crash there in 1945. His ghost now haunts the hangar he frequented in
life. Witnesses have reported hearing ghostly footsteps sounding like "wingtips walking across
a hardwood floor" and a water faucet that turns itself on. The current airport manager claims
Archie has been more active since recent renovations at the airport.
Shepherd & Schaller Sporting Goods
A ghost named Ed spends his time making rapping
noises and setting off the door alarm.
