Owner says spooks haunt recording studio
HARTLAND, Wis. (AP) - Harvey is just one of the many music junkies who haunt Vinne Millevolte's studio.
But although you can hear Harvey, you can't see him.
He's a ghost.
"Harvey likes to jam with us, but I can't always count on him," Millevolte said. "Sometimes we're all ready to go and he doesn't show. Maybe he's jamming with a better band."
Millevolte thinks Harvey followed him from his old basement studio in Milwaukee 10 years ago.
But he's not the only ghost at the studio, Millevolte believes.
The building is near prime ghost stomping grounds - the Hartland cemetery is in back and Millevolte's Recording Studio also is near an original Indian trading post.
"Late at night, you can sometimes hear doors creaking, someone coming up the stairs or something in the kitchen," he said. "I always have to look."
Millevolte is certain Harvey and the other ghosts improve the sound of recordings made at the studio, but the only audible evidence he has is the sound of a heartbeat that appeared on a recording when no one was playing it.
"They don't like being recorded," Millevolte said. "They seem to come around when there are more people here, but if people aren't scared by them, they seem to get bored and leave."
Harvey and the ghosts may follow Millevolte when he moves to his new location in West Allis.
But if they don't?
"I'm going to miss them," Millevolte said.
